How many people will get angry at this

This isn't anything bad! It's just something that came up on tumblr and I thought it was funny.

Basically the problem people have with it is that the star can be seen through the moon.

Yeah, I know.

The Cure

The Cure. The goth band most baby goths would learn about first.
God bless Robert Smith's hair.

Things Take on a whole new look when drawn whit on black.
Much more interesting then drawing in black and white
then using a computer to invert the colors.

Also, things I post updates to:

Bah

So my brilliant idea for automatically notifications for tumblr... Is all kinds of messed up.

- image broken
- tag limit
- full of nope

I'm also doing more experiments on 'things'. It's not quite working out the way I thought and I plan on doing a little blurb on it. Because it's things that could be useful to others.

Which also includes making a blog post on my phone.

Art on the train

No, I don't recommend drawing on the train.
Very bumpy.
I have drawn in cars and it is much easier.

The pens I use to draw

Specifically, the Prisma Color Premier 4 pack pen thing.

I just... kinda decimated them. I don't like how faint the ink is. The chisel point is almost like a black highlighter. The same with the brush pen. Hell, the only one hat had an even dark black line was the 05. But it bleeds which is a pain.

The 005 point is almost out of ink. This was very disappointing because it is the main fine detail pen. It is now drawing dark grey. It's also not the best grip. It keeps triggering my writers crap.

In comparison, I have a Sakura Micron that I have heavily used for years with no difference. I have one Sakura pen that I used up and that was the brush pen. Which took years. I think I finally dumped it this past December.

So! Once these pens die I will be replacing them with the Sakura Microns.

Lesson mostly learned.

The stuff I draw with

Ok, so one of the biggest pains is figuring out what to draw with.

There are a lot of artists out there that will freak out if you ask them what they use. They will then launch into a long rant about practice and learning and stuff you didn't ask them about because you know about all that stuff.

Since I have had more of that kind of conversation then I would ever wish. Because while I understand not wanting to give out trade secrets and such, art supplies are exspensive and if knowing what I use helps you then by all means take a while and listen.

I prefer my Sakura Microns for a true black. If you are doing art I say Go with them. But I am not using them for this because I am abusing the crap outa the cheap pens I grabbed specifically for this project.  If you are doing art I say Go With Them!

Drawing Materials:

Prisma Color Premier 4 pack pen thing.
It has a chisel, brush, 05 and 005 tips. They were $10 bucks at wally world and they draw like it. The black pigment is crap and not nearly as dark as I like. But the brush tip is durable so far and i like how the chisel tip writes. To be frank, they were cheep and I didn't want to use my Microns.
((I prefer my Sakura Microns for a true black.))

"Card Stock" paper stuff.
For this I am using a package of pre-cut card stock in a saran wrap from joanns... I'm not sure what the real name is. I'll update this after I get more. The small size is less intimidating for me to try and fill. So it kinda forces me to be creative.

On the flip side to all of this, no mater what size of paper.... I will always have not enough paper. Always! You will see that in the stuff I'm posting here. XD

I also made this a perm page thing at the top so people don't have to dig for it if they need it.

Have you ever done this

I have just typed a word so many times that it no longer looks right.

The word was goth. I would say I am going to regret this but I already do and yet I am having fun in my misery... wow.

Yeah. I think I need a break. Good thing it's time for work!!!

And blogger blinks

I have to fix some posts due to the blogger app not having the ability to schedule posts properly.

Update: I think I have it fixed... It's sad that the Blogger app went from sad to useless.

Speaking of Webcomics

Welcome to Necessary Tragedy! This is a 90's goth webcomic! Sadly this isn't on Geocities and I refuse to have auto-play music. I have a limit to the bad 90's that I will inflict on you all.

So you want to make a web comic?

This isn't a true how to... but just a little advice for people that get overwhelmed with the idea of doing a daily (365 strips a year).

The trick is you want to start small.

Start with the number 12. That would make one comic for every month. Sounds easy.

If you can't think of things, or better if you have a day when all you can do is think of things to do dailies on? Make a list. This list will make your comic days much easier because you will have it for the times when you can't think of anything to do.

Once you have a few ideas then you can start by making 12 comics.

You will then want to set up an auto post thing so that you know for at least 12 times in the next year you will not have to worry about what to post.

Once all of that is done? Make 12 more and set up the next years worth of monthly posts.

Remember, these are baby steps. Baby steps which I wish I knew about back when I was in high school rattling off ideas with my friends that would be 'so cool as a comic!'. Because once you have then second set of 12 done, then you can do another set of 12

A good idea is holidays. Major federal holidays are a good start. Local holidays and family traditions are another. If the holiday just passed and you are brimming with ideas? Do them and you will be set for the next time that holiday comes around.

A small time line you could use:
Once a year = 1 comic
Once a month = 12 comics
Bi-monthly = 24 comics
Weekly = 52-ish comics
Bi-weekly updates (twice a week usaly Tu & Th) = 104-ish comics
Three times a week (M-W-F) = 156-ish comics
Weekly Daily (M-Tu-W-Th-F) = 260-ish comics
True Daily (every single day) = 365-ish Comics

See? This is how people overwhelm themselves so fast when they start out. This is also why I like 12.

For my chosen theme... I plan on being cheesy. The cheese will be very strong here. So I can get away with throw out things because this is also an art blog and I will be art-ing and goth-ing things up. The hard part for me will be scanning and labeling and posting. Because I burned myself out a few years ago with almost 1,000 photos that I still haven't finished labeling.

So yes, baby steps are a very good starting point.

If you find them too easy? still do them! If you can crank out 365 images and post them like it was nothing? I still recommend setting up a year (or a few years) up so you have a handy cushion. it never hurts to be over prepared.

Also, unless you are already set up to auto-post... never quote a time for an update. That has bitten me in the rear so many times.
